Peter Cole’s love of surfing lured him to Oʻahu’s North Shore in the 1950s and he became a champion surfer like no other. Winner of the 1958 Mākaha Invitational, he attacked the big waves few would take on at his beloved Sunset Beach and was a gentleman out of the water. A true waterman, competing in both surfing and swimming, Peter embodied the spirit of competition and was always willing to step to any challenge.
